Atlanta small business interview with Whitney Marshall, owner of Whitney Marshall Coaching LLC

Updated: Oct 7, 2021

How long have you been in business and what inspired you to become an entrepreneur? I officially launched Whitney Marshall Coaching LLC in the Fall of 2020. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and spent the first twenty years of my career building the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs at a large, international law firm. After my job was unexpectedly eliminated, I had a chance to reflect on my next chapter and realized that I had an untapped gift that could benefit others so I leaned into my fear, got certified as a professional leadership & transition coach and haven't looked back! As a new mom who needed more flexibility than my last career provided, starting my coaching practice has afforded me the chance to spend more time with my family and also challenge myself professionally.

What has been your biggest business challenge? Starting a new business in the midst of a pandemic with no full-time childcare is not for the faint of heart!

What has been your proudest accomplishment as a business owner? My clients have come entirely from the relationships that I have nurtured over the past twenty years as a senior leader at a professional services firm, a dedicated community volunteer, a neighbor, and a friend. It is humbling to know that these people saw something in me that I didn't necessarily see in myself and have supported me as I've launched my new venture. What a gift! How do high quality photos help you with business branding and marketing? This is my first business venture and it was important to have images that not only reflected my personality and style, but also gave potential clients a sense of my values and the things they can expect as my clients- a high quality coaching experience, attention to detail, dedication, commitment, and, hopefully, some fun along the way!

Why did you pick Bonnie and her team as your photographer, and why would you recommend her to other business owners? Bonnie was recommended by a former colleague and friend who had a great experience working with her and who also knew I wanted to support another local, female-owned business. I'm so thankful I took her recommendation because Bonnie instantly put me at ease and made an intimidating experience feel fun and enjoyable! She turned my images around very quickly which was super helpful, too. I look forward to working with Bonnie in the future and encourage other small business owners to do the same.
