Mini sessions are an affordable way to get a few updated photos to refresh your business marketing images. Preparation is the best way to get the most out of a mini session. I've compiled a short list of tips to get the most "bang for your buck" out of your branding mini session.

1. Solids slay (in photos). The focus of professional photos needs to be on your face and eyes. Clothing patterns can be visually distracting. I recommend that you skip jewelry, or pick understated pieces for the same reason. (Unless you are a jewelry or clothing designer, then go bold!)
2. Wear clothes that fit you. Mini sessions usually only include one outfit, so try it on a week or two before your shoot. This will give you plenty of time to get it altered or replaced if it doesn't fit. Well fitted clothing usually looks better than baggy or "flowy" outfits. Avoid capped sleeves, as they do not photograph well. You can bring an extra jacket or accessory to change for a quick, second look.

3.Makeup should be natural looking. Fix your hair and makeup as if you are going to a job interview. I don't recommend false eye lashes or heavy contouring. Avoid shimmery powders or anything shiny for photos.
4. Bring a prop or two. A product or a prop that represents your work. Props are often a fun addition to a photo. They give you something to do with your hands and they help tell a visual story about you or your business.

5. Drink plenty of water and moisturize your skin in the days leading up to your shoot. Hydration will help your skin look its very best. Don't worry about blemishes! We can take fix them with retouching. Blemish removal, taming stray hair, softening under eyes and teeth whitening are included in all packages. (Requests for clothing retouches will incur additional costs.)
6. Please arrive on time and "camera ready" for your session: If you are more than 10 minutes late for your mini session, your shoot will have to be shortened. Remember that Atlanta traffic is a awful at every time of day. Give yourself plenty of time to find the studio and park your car. Arrive "camera ready." Your makeup and hair should be done. There are bathrooms and mirrors in the studio for a quick freshen up. If your mini sessions are at the West End Studio, here's a link to information about parking.

Bonus tip: Bring a positive attitude! You are showing up to take your business to the next level with some great portrait images. Embark on this undertaking with as much enthusiasm as possible, it will be a good experience and we'll get some fantastic photos for your marketing.
